About the Pantry

Located at 321 5th Street in Milford, Pennsylvania, the Ecumenical Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and has been in continuous operation since 1991. Started by parishioners from Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, the pantry continues as a self-sustaining ministry of the Church. We provide supplemental and emergency groceries and toiletries to residents of Pike County who are facing food insecurity.

Staffed completely by volunteers, the pantry is open on Fridays

from noon to 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In addition to regular weekly distributions, we provide enhanced food offerings at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter that may include holiday meal staples such as turkeys, hams, and other groceries for a festive meal.

The pantry is a member of The Feeding America Network.

Supplemental Food Boxes for Seniors

In conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast PA, senior citizens over 60 years old can apply for a monthly 'Senior Box.' These boxes contain nutritious, non-perishable items such as cereal, juice, oats, non-fat dry milk, rice, pasta, cheese, and beans. This is in addition to a regular pantry visit. Seniors must pre-register for the program, and an application can be picked up from the pantry during Friday distribution.

The Ecumenical Food Pantry is a partner agency of Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and NEPA.

Who Do We Serve?

We live in a beautiful, prosperous county with about 60,000 residents. But did you know 10% of our residents are living at or below the federal poverty level? And one in six children is facing food insecurity?

We are a choice pantry.

We believe choice fosters an atmosphere of dignity for our clients. Whether the visit to the pantry is a few times a year, weekly, or whenever there are food supply issues in the family, food needs cause worry and often embarrassment. These can either be magnified or minimized depending on the style of the pantry. Our choice pantry provides clients the dignity of choosing their own food based on family size and availability of supplies. An added benefit is that since families are choosing what they like and use,

there is far less wasted food.

We believe no one should go to bed hungry in our county.

And, with your help,we will make that goal a reality.
